Lacrosse Falls in Sub-Regionals

The Hudson Valley Community College lacrosse team (6-5) lost to Tompkins Cortland Community College (7-5) 13-12 in double-overtime on Wednesday evening.

At the end of the first quarter, the Vikings trailed the Panthers 4-3. The teams traded goals in the second, with Hudson Valley scoring last in the quarter to tie the game 7-7. The second half saw a similar scoring situation, with Hudson Valley trailing by one in the third, only to tie Tompkins Cortland in the final minutes of regulation.

After a scoreless overtime, the Panthers scored the winning goal with 1:13 left in the second overtime to end the Vikings season.

Leading for Hudson Valley was Neil Swingruber (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) and Austin Hinderliter (Johnstown/Ephratah) with four goals each. Josh Moseman (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) recorded two, and Aaron Thorpe (Ballston Spa/Malta) and Chris Breault (Agawam/Agawam, MA) both contributed a goal in the loss.

Goalie Jahn Skinner-Ligon (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) recorded 21 saves, including four critical saves in overtime.
