Softball Drops Two to Onondaga

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (0-4) lost to Onondaga Community College (9-9) 20-10 and 9-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings trailed 3-0 in the first inning of game one, but would rally in the second, tying the game after Chelsea Stevens (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls), Paige Roberts (Cobleskill-Richmondville/Cobleskill), and Alyssa Ellis (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) scored.
The Vikings went scoreless the next two innings as the Lazers took a 13 run lead. During the fifth, every Hudson Valley batter had an at-bat, as the team recorded six singles and one double, scoring seven runners, but it wasn’t enough.
Roberts and Stevens led the Vikings in game one with two hits and two runs each. Hannah Johnson (Shaker/Colonie), Cheyanne Mandigo (Corinth/ Corinth), and Ellis each added two RBIs in the loss.
Elizabeth Brooking (Rensselaer/Rensselaer) scored the lone run for Hudson Valley in the second game. Both Johnson and Roberts recorded a hit in the loss.
The women host Broome on Tuesday starting at 3 p.m.
