Softball Cruises Past Fulton-Montgomery

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (6-4) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (1-5) 13-2 in game one and 11-2 in game two on Thursday evening.

Game one ended in five innings, with the Vikings scoring 12 unanswered runs in the first three innings.

Kaitlin DelSignore (Troy/Brunswick) led the offensive attack going 3-3 at the plate, with a double and two RBIs. Ashley Pulcher (Ichabod Crane/Stuyvesant) went 1-2 at the plate, adding three RBIs with a bases-clearing double. Elizabeth Brooking (Rensselaer/Rensselaer) was solid in the circle, going four innings and allowing only three hits. Hannah Johnson (Shaker/Colonie) earned the save giving up no hits in the victory.

The Vikings took an early 3-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back, ending game two in five innings.

Johnson led the offensive attack going 3-3 at the plate with a triple, a double, and three RBIs, and Brooking added four RBIs to round out the offense. Alyssa Ellis (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) went the distance on the mound giving up seven hits and tallying five strikeouts.

The women host Corning on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
