Softball Loses to Corning

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (6-6) lost to Corning Community College (17-4) 7-4 in game one, and 8-1 in game two on Saturday afternoon.

In game one The Vikings held a one-run lead over the Red Barons through the end of the fifth inning. Unfortunately, Hudson Valley gave up three runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh, ending their six-game win streak.

Paige Roberts (Cobleskill Richmondville/Cobleskill) led for the Vikings going 2-4 at the plate, with three RBIs. Cheyanne Mandigo (Corinth/Corinth) scored two of Hudson Valley’s runs and had a stolen base, her fourth on the season.

The second game ended in six innings, with the Vikings only scoring one run in the first inning. Hannah Johnson (Shaker/Colonie) scored the lone run for Hudson Valley, as she went 2-3 at the plate.

The women travel to Monroe tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
