The Viking Child Care Center, opened by the Faculty Student Association of Hudson Valley Community College, Inc. is located on Williams Road, at the southeastern end of Hudson Valley's campus. The center affords easy accessibility for parents attending the college, as well as community parents.
A state-of-the-art facility featuring 16,000-square feet, the day care center provides care for 118 children ages six weeks to five years. The center follows the "High Scope" curriculum, a developmentally appropriate early learning program that fosters self-esteem in children and encourages their independence. This cognitively based program has been designed to meet each child's need for play, companionship and individual attention. The program is flexible and provides opportunities for children to develop at their own pace.
To address its children's social and physical development, the center has constructed two outdoor play areas totaling more than 8,000-square feet. Each play space contains age appropriate equipment, resilient surfacing and shaded grass -covered picnic areas.
