Pumpkin Palooza Fall Festival for Students and Community at Hudson Valley Community College This Thursday

WHO: Students of Hudson Valley Community College and families from the surrounding community are invited to “Pumpkin Palooza” festivities at the college this Thursday.
WHAT: Student activities take place during the day, with the annual Pumpkin Launch by Engineering Science students. Prizes will be awarded to the student group that hits the target with pumpkins launched from catapults they designed and built in engineering classes.
In the evening, children and accompanying adults from the community will enjoy a pre-Halloween celebration that includes music, a magic show, balloon sculptures, professional photos of participants in costumes, skill games with prizes, bounce houses and refreshments, all for free.
There will be a lighted display of more than 100 pumpkins carved by Hudson Valley students and staff for a competition earlier in the day. The evening will conclude with a drawing for one girl’s and one boy’s bike and helmet.
More than 1,000 are expected to attend the event, now in its fifth year.

The Pumpkin Launch takes place from 11 a.m. to noon
Judging of pumpkin carving competition takes place from noon to 1 p.m.
Family/community activities are from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
WHERE: The Pumpkin Launch will be held in the Campus Quad area in front of the Campus Center. Pumpkin carving competition takes place in the Campus Center. Evening activities take place in the McDonough Sports Complex.
DETAILS: All attending are welcome to bring a food item for donation to the college’s food pantry.
