Cardiorespiratory and Emergency Medicine
The Cardiorespiratory and Emergency Medicine Department offers degree and certificate programs, as well as courses, in several allied health areas. Graduates are working in hospitals and skilled medical facilities around the Capital Region and beyond.
Programs
The department offers the following degree and certificate programs:
Community Health Navigation A.A.S.
This program prepares you to enter the workforce as a community health navigator or continue your education in a variety of community health, social services and allied health fields. Community health navigators educate, motivate and empower their clients. Working under licensed health care professionals, community health navigators serve as a liaison between clients and the health care system.
Community Health Navigation Certificate
This program is designed for those who have some background in a health care field and have completed coursework in a related area. The certificate program will allow you to enter the workforce as a Community Health Navigator after one year of successful study.
Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic A.A.S.
Completion of this program allows you to take the New York State Department of Health and National Registry of EMT's certifying examinations at the Paramedic level.
Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic Certificate
This program was designed for incoming students who already have a current NYS EMT card and one year of EMT experience. Successful completion allows you to take the New York State Department of Health and National Registry of EMT's certifying examinations at the Paramedic level.
Polysomnography A.A.S.
This degree will prepare you to work in an allied health specialty that deals with the diagnostic evaluation and management of patients with neurological and sleep abnormalities.
Respiratory Care A.A.S.
This degree will educate you to care for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Respiratory therapists work in hospitals, rehabilitation agencies, nursing homes, emergency transport teams, outpatient clinics and physician offices.
