National School Safety Presentation with Max Schachter
The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office is hosting a special event focused on school safety with Max Schachter, founder and executive director of Safe Schools for Alex.
Schachter’s son, Alex, is one of the 17 victims murdered in the Parkland School shooting on Valentine’s Day in 2018. Following that tragedy, he has dedicated himself to sharing school safety best practices and resources with students, parents, school districts and law enforcement agencies so that all children can learn in a safe environment.
He has advocated for policy change at the highest levels of the United States government and worked alongside members of Congress, leaders of all major federal agencies and presidents of the United States to make schools safer.
