Mindful Movement
A life of integrity and alignment is a life of power. In the same way, muscles that move with integrity and alignment produce a body with power. Science shows us that 70 percent of our health, disease prevention and fitness are determined by our little day-to-day choices, with movement being one of the most crucial. This class is not about moving more, but rethinking how your body was designed to move so that you don’t waste your time with mindless movements.

This is a fun, hands-on, workshop-style class that will involve self-testing, demonstrations and practical exercises for neck, spine, glutes, knees and toes. Whether you want to become an athlete or merely ward off nagging backache, this class provides the principles that will transform how you use your body.

Wing Chun Kung Fu: Invented by a Woman, But Useful to Anyone!
Wing Chun is the only martial art that is known to be invented by a woman. (However, its most famous practitioner was a man: the legendary Bruce Lee.) This is apparent in the style’s moves, which favor speed and sensitivity over strength. It is this focus that allows a smaller person to overcome a larger opponent. Instructor Steve Grogan has been training in this style since 1995, and now he wants to share its beauty and simplicity with you.

Over the course of three two-hour sessions, you will learn about the theories behind Wing Chun’s approach to self-defense and practice some techniques with your classmates. In session two, Steve will go over some basic self-defense scenarios and how a Wing Chun practitioner would deal with them. Finally, in session three, you will learn about Wing Chun’s sensitivity training, as well as how you can train when you are alone or if the only partners available to you have not trained in Wing Chun.

By the end of this course, you will have a well-rounded understanding of how Wing Chun is structured, and you will understand why it is called “an intelligent system of self-defense.”
