Friends and family make classes more fun!

Find a friend or family member and take a class together!

Sometimes it’s just more fun to take a class with a friend, and when that friend is your mom, your daughter, your sibling or husband, it makes it all the more enjoyable.

One family that knows the joy of taking crafting classes together are Elaine Synder and her daughters, Christine and Melinda, from Grafton.

They’ll admit that they’re a pretty creative family to begin with, but a few years back they discovered the Arts and Crafts classes offered through Hudson Valley and they’ve been enjoying them together ever since.

“I think it started when I went to the basket weaving class with (Melinda’s) daughter, Kayla,” said Christine. “We did that together and the next semester saw the stamping class and we decided to do that together. We’ve kind of been doing it every semester since then.”

Mom and her daughters have taken a few basket classes as well as three or four card stamping classes.

“We’re crafty people. We like to craft,” said Elaine. “We’ve always had fun doing crafts together as a family. I enjoy spending time with my girls, learning new things and when we get together a lot of the grandkids like to do it, too.”

Elaine and Melinda took one of several card stamping classes together this past fall and they enjoyed not only the time together but also the fact that they were making something they could give away to friends and family.

So, if you’re interested in taking a class through Hudson Valley’s Office of Community and Professional Education, ask a friend to join you! Share in the fun of learning a new skill, a new hobby or a new fitness routine.
