Electrical Technology: Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (A.A.S.)

Electrical Engineering TechnologyThe Electrical Technology - Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology degree prepares students to enter emerging fields such as semiconductor fabrication, micro-electro-mechanical systems and nanotechnology. You will benefit from both classroom education and hands-on instruction.

Graduates may choose to enter the workforce or continue their education at a four year-college.

The college also offers a one-year certificate program in Semiconductor Technology, which may be appropriate for students with some college credit in physics, math, electricity and electronics.

This program is offered by the Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies Department.

  • Many of the core courses are taught at the TEC-SMART facility in Malta, which is located adjacent to the GlobalFoundries fabrication plant.

Graduates of the program, many of whom secure jobs prior to graduating, are prepared to work as installers and service technicians, and to conduct research and testing.

Employment opportunities exist for those interested in working as Air Conditioner or Furnace Gas Appliance Mechanic, Air Conditioning Service Technician, Air Conditioning Specialist/Technician and HVAC/R Sales Representative.

Typical employers are commercial service companies, residential and commercial installation contractors, hospitals, sales companies, government agencies and schools.
