Electrical Technology: Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (A.A.S.)

Electrical Engineering TechnologyThe Electrical Technology - Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology degree prepares students to enter emerging fields such as semiconductor fabrication, micro-electro-mechanical systems and nanotechnology. You will benefit from both classroom education and hands-on instruction.

Graduates may choose to enter the workforce or continue their education at a four year-college.

The college also offers a one-year certificate program in Semiconductor Technology, which may be appropriate for students with some college credit in physics, math, electricity and electronics.

This program is offered by the Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies Department.

  • Many of the core courses are taught at the TEC-SMART facility in Malta, which is located adjacent to the GlobalFoundries fabrication plant.

Outcomes

Graduates are prepared for a career as an Engineering Technician or similar roles. Employment opportunities exist for those interested in working as: Field Service Representatives, Electromechanical Assemblies Technicians, Quality Control Technicians, System Field Support Technicians, Field Engineers, Service Technicians and Computer Technicians.

Recent employers have included: GE Healthcare; General Electric Global Research Center; GlobalFoundries.

Some recent graduates have continued their education at Rochester Institute of Technology and SUNY Polytechnic.

Salaries vary based on position and degree attainment. Here is the median salary taken from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (as of 2012): Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technician, $56,040.
