The Coaching certificate program provides all of the mandated coursework required for those who wish to coach in the New York State public school system. Those wishing to coach any interscholastic sport in the public school system must take this mandated course of study before coaching.
The program can be completed as part of the Physical Education Studies program or as a separate certificate. All of the credit coursework may be transferable to other degree programs.
Be advised that those completing the program also must complete several mandatory professional workshops that are also offered by the college in order to gain NYS licensure.
The certificate is offered through the Health, Physical Education and Exercise Studies Department.
Note: Students enrolled in this program are not eligible to receive financial aid.

Career and Transfer Opportunities
Those successfully completing the program will have met the requirements to become a certified head coach in any interscholastic public high school athletic program. This includes all head coaches and assistants for varsity, junior varsity, freshman and junior high (modified) teams of public schools.
