Excelsior Scholarship

New York State's Excelsior Scholarship, in combination with other financial aid programs, allows eligible students to attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition-free. As a SUNY community college, Hudson Valley encourages its students to learn more about this opportunity.

An Excelsior Scholarship recipient can receive up to $5,500 per year to cover tuition. Students must first complete the FAFSA and TAP applications. The Excelsior Scholarship may then cover the remaining balance of tuition after Pell, TAP and other grants, scholarships or other gift-aid for eligible students have been applied.

Students pursuing an associate degree are eligible to receive an Excelsior Scholarship for up to two years. Those pursuing a bachelor's degree are eligible for an award for four years.

To learn about eligibility requirements or to apply for the Excelsior Scholarship, visit the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) website at www.hesc.ny.gov/excelsior.
