Film’s Director will Discuss “The Last Pig” Following Showing

Director Allison Argo and Bob Comis, the farmer who abandoned pig slaughter and now grows vegetables in Schoharie County, will join a panel discussion following a presentation of "The Last Pig" (2017, 52 min) on Thursday, April 19 at Hudson Valley Community College. The showing and discussion will be from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center on the Troy campus and is open free to the public.

Dr. Valerie Lang Waldin, associate professor at Hudson Valley Community College and a founder of the college's Animal Outreach Club, will moderate the discussion that also will include Kathy Stevens, founder and executive director of the Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

"The Last Pig" follows Comis through his final season as a pig farmer. A lyrical meditation on what it means to be a sentient creature with the power to kill, the film earned Argo the Zelda Penzel "Giving Voice to the Voiceless" award at the 2017 Hamptons International Film Festival.
