Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP)

In addition to the support services available to all students, ASAP students receive:

• A dedicated advisor to guide their progress from entry to graduation.
• A cost of attendance award to be applied to the non-tuition components of the cost of attendance after all other federal and state grant aid has been accepted and applied.
• A monthly stipend for eight months out of the year.
• Textbook assistance to reduce, or eliminate, the cost of textbooks.
• Special registration options that help them get the classes they need that fit their schedules.
• The chance to build career development competencies with our Career and Transfer counselors and academic support services.
• The opportunity to take classes with fellow ASAP students to foster and build their networks.

There is no catch! In exchange for all of these resources, students will need need to:

• Remain in an eligible ASAP degree program as a full-time student each semester (12 credit minimum) and maintain good academic standing (2.0 GPA). 
  • Students must meet the guidelines of Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined on the Financial Aid Policies and Procedures webpage.
• Enroll immediately and continuously in any developmental supports.
• Meet regularly with their advisor, and attend any required enrichment activities.
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application each year to remain eligible.

In order to be eligible for the ASAP program, students must:

• Be enrolled full time in a degree program listed below, with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and a minimum 2.0 GPA

    • Forensic Science Studies
    • Human Services
    • Individual Studies
    • Liberal Arts and Sciences - Humanities and Social Science
    • Liberal Arts and Sciences - Humanities and Social Science History Track
    • Liberal Arts and Sciences - Humanities and Social Science Political Science Track
    • Marketing
    • Psychology
• Be eligible for in-state tuition.
• Complete a 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application and accept all federal and state grant aid offered (Pell, SEOG, TAP). For more information, please visit the Financial Aid webpage.
• Be Pell eligible and receive at least $1 of Pell aid at point of enrollment (NOTE: Students in the process of completing financial aid may be conditionally accepted into the program).
• Not be EOP eligible.
• Have earned 21 or fewer college credits.
• Agree to attend all required ASAP program activities.

Students who meet the eligibility requirements and are interested in becoming an ASAP student should complete the ASAP Interest Form.
NOTE: Students will login using their single sign-on/Hudson Valley username and password to access the form.

An initial review will be conducted once we receive the interest application, to identify if any additional information is needed. Due to the FAFSA delays in 2024, a continual review of eligibility will be done as the financial aid information becomes available at Hudson Valley, the earliest expected is mid-May. Once a student's FAFSA and TAP information is processed by HVCC, updates will be provided to students on their status with the ASAP program.
