How to Apply

To apply, the first step is to submit an online admissions application and your supporting documents by the following dates:

• Spring (mid-January) semester start deadline: September 15
• Fall (late-August) semester start deadline: February 1

NOTES:

• Hudson Valley Community College will consider all applications received after these dates on a rolling basis.
• When completing the application, use a personal email to set up your account. After you select "Create Account" be sure to go to the next page to submit a matriculated application.

You are halfway there! After submitting an online application, students educated outside the United States will need to submit additional documentation to complete their application.
NOTE: Please do not submit documents until your application is complete.

• Transcripts and Diplomas
  • If you attended high school or college outside of the U.S. you can upload copies of transcripts and diplomas using the form below. If you have earned college degrees outside the U.S., please submit a course-by-course evaluation from one of the members of NACES. NOTE: Fees for the evaluation vary by agency.
  • If you attended school in the U.S., order your transcripts from your high school and/or college(s) and have them sent directly to us, either through a transcript service or the mail. Please list the admissions@hvcc.edu email for transcript services and 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy, NY 12180 as the address for U.S. mail.
• Completed FSA Documents
  You will need to download, complete and submit the following documents:
  
  • FSA-2 Autobiographical Essay (PDF)
    See directions on form. If you write your essay on a separate page, be sure to include your name on it.
  • FSA-3 English Proficiency Report (PDF)
    To be completed by your English teacher/professor. The teacher/professor will email the FSA-3 directly to international@hvcc.edu. 
  • FSA-4 Financial Statement (PDF)
    
    • Please note that there are two pages to the FSA-4.
      • Page 1 is completed by the student.
      • Page 2 is completed by the student and/or sponsor as well as the bank.
        • Be sure to write dollar amounts in the proper columns and include the total funds being pledged.
        • Part A is to be filled out by the bank official.
        • Part B is signed by the sponsor. The sponsor’s signature must be notarized to validate that the sponsor is pledging the aforementioned funds. The notary’s signature/stamp can go along the edge of the page near the sponsor’s signature.
        • Part C is the applicant’s signature and the date of signing.
• Bank Statement(s)
  Must have your name or your sponsor’s name on the statement. Account numbers can be blacked out. The bank statement cannot be older than three months.
  • The bank statement(s) must reflect a balance that covers tuition and estimated living expenses for nine months (one academic year) totaling at least $36,660 USD. If living locally with family (with letter of support) the bank statement(s) must reflect a balance of at least $27,860 USD.

• TOEFL or IELTS Score

• For current F1 students transferring to HVCC, the following additional documents should be submitted:
  • Official U.S. college transcript(s)

  • Current I-20
  • A copy of F1 Visa
