Author Jacopo della Quercia Visits College on Wednesday

Author Jacopo della Quercia will read and discuss his historical novel, "License to Quill" on Wednesday, April 13 at 1 p.m. in the Maureen Stapleton Theatre at Hudson Valley Community College, as part of the HVCC READS program. The talk is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow.
A history writer and scholar for the New York Council for the Humanities, della Quercia combines his love of humor and history with a sense of action and adventure in his latest book, which is described as a James bond-esque spy thriller, starring William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe during history's real life Gunpowder Plot. The story follows the fascinating Golden Age of English espionage, the tumultuous cold war that gripped post-Reformation Europe and the cloak-and-dagger politics of Renaissance England.
Also the author of "The Great Abraham Lincoln Pocket Watch Conspiracy," della Quercia is a regular contributor to the comedy website, Cracked, and his work has been featured in Readers' Digest, The Huffington Post and WAMC's Roundtable. He also teaches about the Renaissance, art, literature and history.
