Monday, Oct. 3
Student Empowerment Series: Leadership in the Community
3 – 4 p.m., Siek Campus Center, rooms 150 and 204
Guest speakers discuss civic and social responsibility, and how to use networking and community engagement to reach personal, academic and professional goals. Women meet in room 150 with Ruth Mahoney, KeyBank president; men meet in room 204 with Corey Ellis, '94, political and community consultant/organizer.

Tuesday, Oct. 4
Instant Admission Day
8:15 a.m. – noon, TEC-SMART, 345 Hermes Rd, Malta
Meet with admissions and financial aid counselors, and learn about the college's faculty, diverse courses and career-oriented academic programs; $30 application fee is waived. Applicants should bring academic records from high school, GED or college, and a most recent tax return if financial aid is needed.

Wednesday, Oct. 5
Fall Transfer Fair
10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Siek Campus Center, first floor lobby
The Center for Careers and Transfer hosts a transfer fair to provide students considering transfer the opportunity to speak with representatives from four-year colleges. More than 70 colleges are represented.

Evening Student Reception
7 – 8 p.m., Siek Campus Center, second floor
All evening students and instructors are invited to attend. The event is hosted by the Office of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, and features a DJ, food, giveaways, and a chance to win gift certificates to the Viking's Cove Bookstore.

Homecoming Weekend 2016 (Oct. 6 – 9)

Thursday, Oct. 6
Fall Fest and Viking Cup Challenge
11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Joseph L. Bruno Stadium
There will be plenty of food, beverages, and music plus the Viking Cup Challenge, the annual faculty/staff vs. student softball game at noon.

Arm of the Sea Theater: The Rejuvenary River Circus
Noon, Maureen Stapleton Theatre, Siek Campus Center
The Rejuvenary River Circus follows Malakai, a messenger and water carrier, on an allegorical journey between mountain peaks and the Deep Blue Sing-Song Sea. Along the way, he meets a sea turtle, a talkative crow, beavers, oysters, and schools of migrating fish – all depicted in the colorful, handmade masks and puppets that are the Arm of the Sea Theater's hallmark. Each creature offer insights into its unique role in a watershed's ecosystem. Presented by the Cultural Affairs Program.

Outdoor Athletic Complex Media Tour
2:30 – 4 p.m., the complex is located near the Bruno Stadium (access via South or Williams road)
Members of media are invited to tour the college's new $4.5 million Outdoor Athletic Complex.

Friday, Oct. 7
Outdoor Athletic Complex Alumni Sneak Peek
4:40 – 6 p.m., the complex is located near the Bruno Stadium (access via South or Williams road)
Hudson Valley alumni are invited to tour the new Outdoor Athletic Complex and meet current student athletes and coaches.

Athletic Alumni Reunion Reception
6 – 8 p.m., McDonough Sports Complex
Former student athletes and coaches are invited to join Hudson Valley administrators and Athletic Department staff for refreshments and hors d'oeuvres, and to learn about the upcoming 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame inductions. (Reservation required.)

Saturday, Oct. 8
Pre-game Tailgate Party
11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, Picnic Pavilion
Alumni and students are invited to enjoy food and beverages prior to the Vikings' first Fall 2016 home football game. (Only non-alcoholic beverages are permitted on campus.) The football game against Valley Forge Military College begins at 1 p.m. on the new turf field. (A brief ceremony and ribbon cutting to dedicate the college's $4.5 million Outdoor Athletic Complex is at 12:20 p.m.)

Sunday, Oct. 9
8th Annual Race Away Stigma 5K Race & Fun Walk
8:30 a.m.: registration, Student Pavilion, in front of Hudson Hall
10 a.m.: race/walk begins
11 a.m.: awards and post-race snacks
Annual event presented by the college's Wellness Center to raise awareness of the stigma attached to mental illness. Day of race registration is $30/person; free for HVCC students with valid ID.
