Commencement Moved; Overflow Areas Designated
May 11, 2018
Despite our intention to host families and friends together in one outdoor venue, unusually cold weather and slippery conditions due to rainfall have caused uncomfortable and potentially unsafe conditions for our many graduates and their guests.
As a result, the Saturday, May 12 Commencement ceremony will take place indoors in the McDonough Sports Complex field house with the following logistical changes:
- Each graduate who picked up a cap and gown has received five tickets.
- Three green tickets allow access to the main ceremony area in the McDonough field house.
- Two white tickets allow access to overflow viewing areas on campus where the ceremony is shown on video. These include the Conway Ice Rink (located in the McDonough Sports Complex), the Maureen Stapleton Theatre (located in the Siek Campus Center), Bulmer Telecommunications Center auditorium and meeting rooms, and Fitzgibbons Health Technologies Center lecture hall (room 100).
- Note: Guests with disabilities holding blue tickets will be admitted to the McDonough field house and directed to special seating.
Faculty and Platform Party will gather in the Siek Campus Center for the procession. Graduates arriving for the ceremony should report to the McDonough Sports Complex lobby.
Commencement is broadcast live online and on Spectrum channel 1301 in the Capital Region (except in Glens Falls and Schenectady where the TV broadcast is unavailable) from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The post-Commencement celebration/reception will be held in the Conway Ice Rink, located in the McDonough Sports Complex.
We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2018 and appreciate your participation.
