President Roger Ramsammy Appointed to National Association Commission

The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) has named Hudson Valley Community College President Roger Ramsammy to its Commission on Structured Pathways. Ramsammy will serve a three-year term beginning this July and ending on June 30, 2021.

AACC is the primary advocacy organization for the nation's nearly 1,200 community colleges which enroll more than 12 million students. The organization has 10 commissions focused on special topics and comprised of member CEOs and senior administrators.

The Commission on Structured Pathways concentrates on strategies for scaling community college pathways across systems, states and the nation. Central to the pathways model are the development of academic program "maps" with specific course sequences, progress milestones and learning outcomes aligned to career and advanced education expectations for students.

Pathways are intentionally designed, structured educational programs that streamline the process for guiding students through their education. They aim to simplify student decision-making and enable colleges to provide targeted support with the goal of improving student outcomes and achievement.

Ramsammy, who joined Hudson Valley as president in July, previously served the AACC on two other commissions: Academic, Student and Community Development and Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.
