President Roger Ramsammy and Board of Trustees Chairman Neil Kelleher issued the following statement to the college community on the passing of Dr. Joseph Kapp, vice chairman of the Board of Trustees.

It is with deep sadness that we must share that our great friend and colleague, Joe Kapp, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 5 after being involved in a tragic accident at the Schenectady-based Innovative Test Solutions. We share our deepest sympathies with Joe’s wife, Jolanta, and the entire Kapp family.

Once a student at Hudson Valley, Joe went on to achieve great things and give back to the college and the community in so many ways. Both a true friend and a remarkable leader, Joe was appointed to the college’s Board of Trustees by the Rensselaer County Legislature in 1999, and most recently served as Vice Chairman of the board. His legacy of service to the college is marked by the sense of pride and commitment he showed for our students and our mission. Joe will greatly be missed by the entire college community.

Joe will be honored by the college and our board in several ways during the coming months. We will share more information on those plans as it becomes available. For now, please keep Joe’s family in your hearts and prayers.
