Students interested in taking two-week winter session courses at Hudson Valley Community College will have an added incentive this year: free textbooks.

The college will cover the cost of textbooks and shipping for all students interested in taking one or more of the intensive two-week classes that run from Jan. 4 through Jan. 14, 2021.

“We know that many students struggle with the cost of higher education, especially in these difficult times,” said Hudson Valley President Roger A. Ramsammy. “In addition to freezing our annual tuition at its 2019 level, this is just another way we can help students stay on track in achieving their higher education goals.”

In all, 20 winter session courses are available for current or new students. Courses include, among others, Computer Concepts and Applications, Principles of Marketing, General Psychology, Constitutional Law, Statistics, American History, and Introduction to Criminal Law.

All winter session courses will be offered in an online or remote format. Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funding provided to the college by the federal government will be used to cover the cost of the textbooks.

For more information about registering for a winter session course, current students may contact their academic advisor and new students may register for a course in-person, by phone or online. New students seeking academic advisement may contact the Office of Continuing Education at (518) 629-7338, or visit the office in Fitzgibbons Health Technologies Center, Room 319.
