HVCC Guarantee Promises College Acceptance and Financial Aid Support

More than 500 members of the Class of 2025 from four Capital Region high schools experienced the HVCC Guarantee this fall.

What’s the HVCC Guarantee? It’s a dedicated effort by the college’s Student Affairs team to encourage college enrollment, especially among those who might not be actively considering college as part of their plans after high school.

The HVCC Guarantee kicked off in October with dedicated events that targeted Class of 2025 seniors from Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, Tamarac and Troy high schools.

At events held both on the Hudson Valley campus and at the high schools, graduating seniors were given preliminary acceptance and urged to dream big about their futures. But the HVCC Guarantee is more than just one celebratory event.

“The HVCC Guarantee is an opportunity to showcase everything Hudson Valley has to offer and pledge our support to help students transition to college,” said Hudson Valley’s Officer in Charge Louis Coplin. “Reaching out and personally telling these students that we want to see them here next fall sends a powerful message that they belong here. We want to build a pathway to success for local students and ensure a smooth transition from high school to college with the support they need.”

To bolster initial acceptance, the college has scheduled follow-up events with each of the schools that will focus on financial aid and the student orientation process. Students and their families will get assistance with FAFSA completion, if needed, and get a better understanding of additional support services the college offers.

The four Rensselaer County high schools chosen as the first HVCC Guarantee cohort are traditionally some of the top feeder schools for the college.

“Hudson Valley Community College is an open enrollment institution committed to helping anyone with the determination and desire to further their education,” Coplin said. “The HVCC Guarantee is just one way that we are taking that commitment to another level.”
