Mascot Madness 2025

As is customary, and similar to the annual NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, Mascot Madness begins on Tuesday, March 11 and is broken down into five rounds.

Voting takes place online at www.suny.edu/mascotmadness/ and allows for site visitors and fans to cast one vote per 24 hours in each round. Check in every round for access to voting tools and to make your voice heard.

2025 Q and A with the Viking

Who are you, where are you originally from, and where do you do your mascot thing?
My name is Victor (the Viking)! After jumping ship on a North American voyage hundreds of years ago, I froze in an iceberg that traveled up the Hudson River. I proudly represent and “do my mascot thing” at Hudson Valley Community College, upstate New York’s largest community college.

What's the most unique thing about your campus?
Not everyone knows that our campus extends well beyond Troy! We offer all kinds of classes and community services at HVCC North in Malta, at the Capital South Campus Center in Albany's South End and also at the Albany International Airport.

Why will you win the Mascot Madness Championship?
I can always count on the students, faculty and staff at Hudson Valley. They always come together for a good cause and to support the college.

Best class you've taken lately?
History of Rock and Roll is one of my favorites. Hudson Valley students learn all about the sociological, economic and cultural factors that influenced the many styles of rock music

If you could swap places with any mascot for a day, who would it be and why?
Though I've teamed up with a lot of local mascots in the past, I'd like to visit UAlbany for a day. I think I could give Damien a run for his money. He was on campus to announce a dual enrollment partnership last year, and since a lot of our students go to UAlbany, it only seems fitting.
