Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh Forge Dual Admissions Partnership
April 25, 2025

On Friday, April 25, leaders from Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh gathered on Hudson Valley’s Troy campus to announce a new dual admissions agreement designed to strengthen transfer pathways and support student success across both SUNY institutions.
While Hudson Valley and SUNY Plattsburgh have collaborated on various programmatic agreements in the past, the newly established Dual Admissions Agreement marks a significant step forward. This comprehensive partnership formalizes and strengthens the educational pathway between the two institutions, reinforcing their shared commitment to academic excellence, seamless student transfers, and timely completion of bachelor’s degrees. As a SUNY-to-SUNY initiative, it exemplifies the system’s dedication to student success at every stage of the academic journey.
Under the new agreement, students can apply to both institutions at once and gain a clear, guided path to earning their bachelor’s degree at SUNY Plattsburgh. The partnership offers over 50 program-to-program pathways across the Schools of Health Sciences, Business and Liberal Arts, and STEM. These pathways allow students to begin their academic journey at Hudson Valley, complete their associate degree, and seamlessly transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh—whether online, at the Queensbury campus, or on the main campus in Plattsburgh.
“There is a place at SUNY for every New Yorker, and we are committed to the success of every student,” said SUNY Chancellor John King. "The new partnership between Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh will strengthen the transfer process and make an excellent, affordable SUNY education available to more students in the Hudson Valley.”
“Here at Hudson Valley, we have always made it a priority to help our students transfer smoothly to pursue advanced degrees or a new direction, but dual admission partnerships like this one are critically important because they provide students with a clear roadmap to their end goal from the very beginning,” said Hudson Valley Community College Officer in Charge Louis Coplin. “Ultimately, today’s agreement guarantees that our students will not only save time and money as they transfer from Hudson Valley to Plattsburgh, but that they’ll have the support and resources they need to feel comfortable and prepared to succeed, each step of the way, as they work to reach their academic goals.”
“This agreement strengthens our shared commitment to making higher education affordable, accessible, and easier to navigate for students across the Capital Region and beyond,” said SUNY Plattsburgh President Dr. Alexander Enyedi. “With this agreement, a single application grants students admission to both Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh. By beginning their college career at HVCC and finishing their bachelor’s degree at SUNY Plattsburgh, they receive ongoing support and clear transfer pathways throughout their education.”
Assemblyman Scott Bendett joined college and SUNY leadership at the special event announcing the new partnership. Also in attendance were Valerie Dent, SUNY Interim Vice Chancellor for Community Colleges and Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Deputy for Student Success; Hudson Valley Community College Officer in Charge Louis Coplin; and SUNY Plattsburgh President Dr. Alex Enyedi. Each spoke about the transformative impact the agreement will have on students across the region. The event also welcomed college and university leaders, faculty, students, and alumni, highlighting the strong community support behind the initiative.
