Program
The department offers the following certificate and degree programs:
Bereavement Studies Certificate
This certificate provides a foundational education in the ways that people grieve during and following the loss of a loved one and it is designed for those in the health care, social services or funeral professions seeking advanced training in assisting the bereaved and the dying. All courses in the certificate are offered online.
Mortuary Science A.A.S.
This program provides you with a foundational education for a career as modern funeral service practitioners. Successful completion of the program entitles you to sit for the national board examination or state board examination, which you must pass in order to receive your degree. The program is accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE), 992 Mantua Pike, Suite 108, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097; (816) 233-3747; www.abfse.org. The program is approved and registered with the New York State Department of Health.
