Aviation Maintenance Technician Program

Coursework focuses on the design, construction, maintenance and repair of:

• Hydraulics and pneumatics devices
• Propulsion systems
• Propellers
• Aircraft painting
• Component overhaul
• Basic electronics
• Environmental systems
• Sheet metal
• Composite structures
• Fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft
• Communications and navigation systems

Overall objectives of the program include:

• Prepare you for FAA certification and entry-level employment
• Develop your knowledge of FAA regulations and procedures
• Develop your safe work habits and skills
• Study all aspects of aircraft, powerplants, hydraulics and auxiliary systems

The Aviation Maintenance Technician Program is designed to help prepare you to pass the FAA requirements for Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Certification.

Training focuses on:

• composite structures, electricity, welding, painting, sheet metal, instruments, assembly and rigging and
• turbine and piston engines, propellers, lubrication, ignition and fuel metering.

Gaining certification means that you have passed written, oral and practical exams with the FAA. Passing these exams shows that you have the knowledge and skills to maintain, repair and inspect aircraft.

Because FAA exams are so rigorous, AMT certifications are very highly regarded when you begin searching for your first career position in aviation maintenance and repair. Employers that see you have an AMT certification are going to know that you have the drive and experience to handle anything.

Although most people only think of commercial airplanes when they hear “aircraft,” it also applies to helicopters, propeller-driven airplanes, jets, and any other aircraft that has been registered with the FAA. AMT certification training will prepare you to work on a wide variety of aircraft.
