Early Childhood (Microcredential)
The microcredential in Early Childhood is designed for students who are currently working in early childhood programs and need college credits for promotion.
The required courses are aligned with the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Completing this microcredential allows students to meet part of the requirements to apply for the CDA, a nationally accepted credential awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition. Students must meet all eligibility requirements prior to the application process for the CDA. All courses in this microcredential would transfer into the Early Childhood A.A.S. program for students wishing to continue with their education.

- Identify the stages of human development from conception through the school years and discuss developmental milestones specific to each stage of development.
- Plan health, safety, and nutrition learning experiences that foster children’s knowledge and skills.
- Describe diverse family and community characteristics and the multiple influences on early development and learning.
- Observing and recording children’s behavior to support young children and families.
- Identify common medical emergencies and injuries and provide the appropriate care until an ambulance arrives.
