Advanced Studio in Acrylics

Are you ready to take your painting journey to the next level? If so, this one-day intensive workshop will expand your painting practice in novel ways! We will tackle 3 entirely different paintings using distinctive methods. You’ll do a deep dive into complimentary colors, glazing, and tried-and-true brushwork techniques! All materials will be provided so just bring yourself and an open mind. Course includes $15 materials fee.

All Occasion Cards

There is no better way to show someone you care than to send them a card handmade by you. In each one of these classes, we will be creating cards that will delight and impress based on different themes. Come create with some amazing colors, images, techniques and folds designed for both the new and experienced stamper. Be sure to bring your own sharp scissors and double-sided adhesive to each class. Course fee includes $12 materials fee.

All rubber stamping classes are taught by Sharyn Bouck, independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator since 1996. Those younger than 14 must be accompanied by a class-registered adult. Contact Sharyn Bouck at sharynbouck@hotmail.com with any questions.

Each week will be creating three different cards. Day and evening classes will create the same cards.

Basic Watercolor

Join us to discover your own unique ways of using transparent watercolor paint, from free experimentation to more controlled approaches. Explore mixing and layering colors, while observing flowers, still life, and landscape. Learn color theory, pencil sketching, composition, drawing directly with a brush, and planning area of wash. Everyone is welcome, both first-time and long-time painters. Please bring whatever materials you may already have, or purchase the following supplies: a pan set of transparent watercolors; a pointed round watercolor brush (approximately size 6; handle will be shorter than oil painting brush); pad of 140# watercolor paper; masking tape; pencil; two water containers; and two pieces of cardboard (slightly larger than size of paper).

Easy Soap Making

Felting Fun!

This course will cover the basics of the beautiful art of needle felting. Needle felting is a very sculptural craft that uses wool yarn and a needle, similarly to how paint and a brush would be used, to create beautiful textural artwork. This class will teach you the basics of felting so you can take what you’ve learned with you and create more pieces on your own. All necessary supplies are included, and the class is suitable for all skill levels, from beginner to seasoned pro.

Floral Embroidery

Create your own colorful, textured, embroidery garden. You will learn a variety of embroidery stitches that can be used to create everything from stems and leaves to hydrangeas, roses, daisies and even fringe moss! No experience required All materials included. Students will leave with a sampler hoop and their own uniquely designed floral arrangement hoop, assorted embroidery threads and embroidery needle to be able to continue their project on their own time. Course includes a $10 materials fee.

Holiday Treat Basket

Students will need to bring a pencil, tape measure, old towel, scissors, spring-type clothespins and a small spray bottle. Please note: Fees for materials are non-refundable less than five business days prior to the start of the course.

Weave this charming small round basket starting on a 4” round wooden base and using green and red space dyed reed for stakes. Do a continuous weave, a bit of twining with dyed reed and then several rows of the space dyed reed to finish off this new addition to your holiday décor. This basket measures 6” across and is 5” tall.

This course includes a $35 materials fee.

Honey Pot Basket

Students will need to bring a pencil, tape measure, old towel, scissors, spring-type clothespins and a small spray bottle. Please note: Fees for materials are non-refundable less than five business days prior to the start of the course.

Learn to weave a round basket from the bottom up. Start the base with twining and weave the sides with several rows of dyed reed and then weave a lazy twill to the top. Weave the rim with a few rows of twining for a different look and then add 2 leather bushel basket handles and lash with a choice of waxed linen or reed. This basket is 6” round and 6 1/2” tall.

Introduction to Quilling

Learn the basics of quilling (coiling/shaping thin strips of colorful paper) to create a beautiful design suitable for hanging, mailing or framing. Quilling requires a little patience and dexterity, and a willingness to get glue on your fingers, but you will love the results! Alyssa will walk you through the basics of creating shapes, and assist as you create your own unique design.

This rectangular basket is woven with natural and dyed reed of varying sizes, dyed reed embellishments and 2 wooden “D” handles. This basket measures 13” long by 5” wide and 6” tall without handles. A great basket for storing items. This course includes a $38 materials fee.

Paint & Resin Charcuterie Board

Join us at Art in Mind Creative Wellness Studio for a unique class where we will paint a beautiful food-safe charcuterie board, and seal it with resin. First, you will be walked through painting a beautiful scene on an 18” x 12” high-quality, real wood charcuterie board. Then, you will learn to pour resin on your piece to seal it. Please be aware that your piece will have to stay with us for at least 24 hours to cure. All supplies included. No experience necessary.

Painterly Lemon Still Life

Loose brushstrokes and texture define the painterly style that has existed in art for centuries. In this class, you will learn how to create texture, shadows and the illusion of translucent light using acrylic paints on canvas. This class is perfect for beginner and intermediate painters. Sheep's Wool Dryer Balls

Learn how to make wool dryer balls using wool roving. You will make three dryer balls, with instructions to wash and dry them to finish.
