Summer Camps

Hudson Valley Community College has been sponsoring programs for children and teens for more than 30 years, enrolling approximately 900 students each year.

Summer 2019 Camps

The Summer 2019 Kids on Campus schedule will be available in March 2019. Please join our mailing list to be notified when the schedule is available.

Summer Academy

  • Enrichment education program for children entering grades 1 - 8. Each class meets for three hours a day for one week. Offered for six weeks, mid-July through mid-August.
  • Previous class topics have included: cooking, forensics, LEGO lovers, computer programming, Minecraft, fun with pastels, design and building, and foreign languages.
  • Teachers are from local elementary, middle and high schools. Counselors are available to work in individual classes assisting the teachers, if needed.
  • Check-in is in Day Care Center, Room B06 unless otherwise noted.

Athletic Camps

  • Half- and full-day options for ages 6 - 16, depending on the camp.
  • Programs provide an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge, develop an interest, learn technique and improve skills. Areas include: Adventure, All Sports, Basketball, Dodgeball, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Track and Field and Volleyball.
  • Each camp is led by a head coach with the appropriate number of assistant coaches and counselors.
  • Check-in is in the lobby of the McDonough Sports Complex, unless otherwise noted.

Circus Theatricks

  • One-week sessions offered multiple weeks each summer, open to ages 6 - 15.
  • Campers are introduced to the art of juggling, tumbling, partner acrobatics, magic and the secrets and skills of circus clowns. Returning campers have the opportunity to further skills and challenge themselves.
  • Artistic director and lead instructor Sean Fagan is a former Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus clown.
  • Camp is held in the Maureen Stapleton Theater, located in the Siek Campus Center.

Technology Enrichment Programs

  • A program held at Bethlehem Middle School is for students entering grades 5 - 8, and two programs held at TEC-SMART in Malta are for those entering grades 6 - 8 and 9 - 11.
  • Students have the opportunity to experience a variety of technology concepts in a hands-on environment.
  • Previous modules have included: structural bridges, energy audit/wind turbine, 3D printing, robotics and cantilevered structures.
  • Modules are led by a certified teacher and there is a counselor assigned to each group.

Youth Theater Program

  • This is a two-week session, open to ages 8 – 15.
  • Students write, compose and perform a musical theater piece.
  • Instructors have extensive theater experience and experience working as artists in residence at various schools. Counselors assist with supervision.
  • Camp is held in the Maureen Stapleton Theater, located in the Siek Campus Center.
