Amazing Athletes

Amazing Athletes is a developmental sports and fitness program that teaches children the basic fundamentals and mechanics of nine different sports: baseball, basketball, football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and volleyball. Our program incorporates exercises for gross motor development, hand-eye coordination, cardiovascular fitness, speed and agility, and stretching and muscle tone. The sports will be divided up throughout the week. The children are able to learn and practice the basic fundamentals of each sport through game-based activities.

Applied Technology Summer Camp

Is your high schooler interested in an applied technology career?

Think about enrolling them in a new week-long camp that will expose them to a variety of in-demand applied technology careers. Campers will interact with college faculty and use the same labs where our Applied Technology students train. A complete schedule will be provided before camp begins.

Participants will learn basic technical skills:

• Taking precision measurements

• Using a multi-meter

• Using diagnostic tools, including automotive scanners, refrigerant pressure gauges, and materials analyzers

• Reading schematics (electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic)

• Assembling complex components

• Diagnosing and repairing complex systems

Babysitting Skills

Be the babysitter all the kids want! Campers will learn basic childcare techniques and safety skills, and create a variety of activities to use while babysitting. Beats and Jams: Digital Music Creators

Begin your rise to the top of the charts with digital music production! Just like today’s top artists, you can design your own beats or remix a mashup of your favorite songs to become a digital composer and sound engineer. In this course, students will learn to produce digital music, record sound, make sound effects, and mix their own tracks. No prior music experience is necessary. Student-created soundtracks will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Can I Make Dinner?

Calling all young chefs! In this hands-on camp, we’ll get cookin’ by creating a delicious meal – one dish at a time. Each day, campers will focus on a different part of the meal, from vibrant veggies to hearty sides and a show-stopping main course. Along the way, they’ll learn essential kitchen skills, cooking techniques, and how to balance flavors like a pro.  At the end of the week, campers will put it all together for a big, homemade feast to share with family and friends. Circus Theatricks

SIX weeks of circus!  
We are pleased to have Sean (Seano) Fagan back at Hudson Valley Community College this summer for Circus Theatricks. Whether you’ve experienced fun with Seano in the past or you’re new to the circus world, this class is for you. 

Beginning campers will be introduced to the art of juggling, tumbling, acrobatics, magic, and the secrets and skills of circus clowns. Returning campers, get ready to be challenged and further your skills in the circus arts.

The instructional component of Circus Theatricks camps will run from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. with a half hour for lunch each day.

Our counseling staff will provide supervision of participants from 8 - 9 a.m. and 3 - 4 p.m. each day for those students who arrive early and stay late. Students should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is not available.

Cyber Spies

With the world’s increased reliance on digital data, cybersecurity is more important than ever! In this class, you are all that stands between a group of international hackers launching cyber attacks and world peace. Through a series of challenges, students will learn to apply tools used by professional digital forensics teams to crack codes and use encryption. Working in teams, you will collect clues, recover lost data, and explore the tools of the trade to become the next great cyber spy! Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Eyes on the Sky: STEM Drone Camp

Students will learn everything they need to know to become a skilled drone pilot. They will learn the basics of drone operation on a flight simulator and then take to the skies with a real drone! Once basic techniques are mastered, students will learn how to take pictures and videos using their drone, explore land surveying and solar panels, and inspect wind turbines. The week will culminate with a fun series of activities and competitions. Students will also learn about the various components of a drone and will be exposed to FAA regulations for drone pilots to ensure safe flying. Course fee includes $50 materials fee.

Global Kitchen Adventures

This camp is a hands-on cooking and culture camp designed to introduce students to foods and traditions from around the world. Each day, campers will “travel” to a different country, learning about its geography, culture, and cuisine, while preparing yummy recipes. Join us as we travel to Spain, Italy, Japan, and beyond! Lights, Camera, Action!

This fun course invites young campers to bring their favorite storybook characters to life through the magic of theater! Using imaginative play, they’ll learn to act, give characters a voice, and explore how to express emotions and personalities on stage. Campers will work together as a group to create playful scenes inspired by their beloved books, sparking creativity and teamwork. Throughout the week, they’ll build confidence, develop communication skills, and discover the joy of performing. Make Your First Video Game!

Our classic game design camp reimagined to include even more of what you love! Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that gives you the keys to designing your first 2D platformer game. Conceptualization, level design, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts that we’ll explore. No prior experience is necessary, just a desire to have fun! Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Public Speaking and Confidence

Campers will explore kid-friendly and historical speeches delivered by inspiring speakers from a variety of professions. They’ll learn to craft their own speeches, starting in small groups and building the confidence to share with the entire camp. Campers will practice finding, writing, and delivering speeches with personality, voice inflection, and expression. They’ll watch engaging examples from kid-friendly online resources, discussing what works well and what could be improved. Slime Time!

This camp includes instruction in the fundamentals of the game, including grip, stance, swing, rules, terminology and etiquette. The Feelings Lab: An Inside-Out Inspired Camp

The Feelings Lab is a camp inspired by the popular animated film “Inside Out” and focuses on helping students explore emotions through art, storytelling, movement, and hands-on creative activities. Campers will learn to identify and express feelings in healthy ways while building confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills. Each day centers around a different emotion and includes engaging, age-appropriate projects that support social-emotional learning – all while having fun in a supportive and inclusive environment. Theater Through Time

Join us for an exciting new theater camp, where campers will do theater games, work on their improvisation and playwriting skills, and improve their acting. Campers will create different characters and bring them to life by learning different acting techniques from different areas of the world. Campers will also be able to create their own scenes and perform their own show at the end of the week. Course fee includes $10 materials fee.

Write Your Own Play

This exciting and creative summer camp allows students to unleash their imagination and bring their theatrical visions to life. Participants will learn the fundamentals of playwriting, including crafting compelling characters, engaging dialogue, and dramatic storylines. As budding playwrights, they’ll also step into the director’s shoes, holding auditions, casting roles, and guiding their peers through the rehearsal process. By the end of the week, students will gain valuable insights into the art of storytelling and the behind-the-scenes work that brings a play to the stage. This hands-on experience is perfect for any student with a passion for theater or creative writing! Course fee includes $10 materials fee.

YouTube Content Creators

Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixteen, it’s time to start a career as the next YouTube® star. Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube® and how to find your own niche. Learn the dos and don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class! Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
