Cricut Crafting Basics

Whether you’re a creative pro or brand-new to DIY, Cricut® will help you make personalized, professional-quality projects with ease. Cricut® smart cutting machines allow you to create projects for home décor, parties and events, weddings, apparel and more. Learn how to use Circuit Design Space™ software to find images, projects, and fonts, and design your heart out. All great projects start with an idea – make yours come to life using your computer, tablet or smartphone! This course teaches students how to navigate Cricut® smart cutting machines are an amazing tool to create beautiful crafts for home décor, parties and events, weddings, apparel and more. This course teaches students how to navigate Circuit Design Space™ and provides a review of Cricut® smart cutting machine options, cutting materials, and cutting tools.

You will need a computer, tablet or phone with a camera and high speed internet access. You should have a computer or tablet with Cricut Design™ downloaded to the device prior to the start of the course. You do not need a Cricut® machine to take this course.

This course is taught remotely via Zoom. You will need your Hudson Valley username and password to access the course.

Cricut Crafting Intermediate

Cricut® smart cutting machines are an amazing tool to create beautiful crafts for home décor, parties and events, weddings, apparel and more. Navigating Circuit Design Space™ is key to successful crafting with Cricut®. In this course you will learn how to upload SVG, JPEG, and PNG files, and how to use the group, attach, weld, slice, contour, and how to add score lines in Circuit Design Space™.

You will need a computer, tablet or phone with video capability and high speed internet access. You should have a computer or tablet with Cricut Design™ downloaded to the device prior to the start of the course. You do not need a Cricut®  machine to take this course.

Drawing

This class will enable participants to confidently draw from observation using natural objects and still life setups. We will learn about and use techniques such as lines, contour, blind contour and value to demonstrate shading, gradation, and color. A materials list will be emailed to you after registering.

Glass Etching

Have you ever wanted to learn how to personalize your glassware? Join this class and learn how to etch words onto glass surfaces with etching paste. We will practice on a glass and a mason jar that you can take home that day. After this class, you won’t have to pay for expensive personalized glassware – you’ll be able to do it yourself! Course fee includes $10 materials fee.

Nature & Free Embroidery

This workshop will explore stitches of embroidery and the use of a water-soluble substrate and tulle. In this workshop students will discover the use of substrates and embroidery stitches that will enable you to produce “free from the substrate” embroidery. Students will leave the workshop with three pieces of embroidery. Depending on the scale of the pieces, students may have to complete outside of class.

Winter Slate Painting

Join the experienced educators from Art in Mind in painting a winter scene on beautiful genuine roofing slate removed from an Adirondack home! You will learn techniques of painting on natural stone, as well as many other painting techniques, as they walk you through this project. Students must withdraw five business days before the start of the course for a full refund. All supplies are included and no experience necessary.
