CBCS Certified Medical Adm. Asst. with Medical Billing & Coding

Administrative medical assistants are skilled multi-taskers who direct the flow of patients through an office. Effective patient flow allows the practice to operate efficiently, increase revenue, and provide a positive experience for the patient.

Medical Terminology is the language of medicine. You will study word parts and the structures and functions of the human body. You will also study disorders and medical procedures common to each body system, including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, nervous, endocrine, integumentary, genitourinary, lymphatic, and immune.

This course offers valuable training in medical office management and legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field, including HIPAA compliance and third-party guidelines for filing insurance claims. You will gain hands-on, practical experience in medical billing and coding and work with the main coding manual ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II. You will learn how to code diagnoses, services, and procedures for all systems of the body.

You'll also have the option to complete the all-new Career Roadmap lesson for Medical Billing and Coding. This lesson will help you find, land, and keep a job in your new field. These job-finding and job-landing skills will serve you now and throughout the rest of your career.

Upon completion of this course, you'll be well-prepared to find your place in this rewarding healthcare career. You will also be able to sit for Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exams offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The fees for the (CBCS) and (CMAA) exams are included with this course.

This course will also prepare you to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam and the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam. (Exam fees Not included for (CPC) and (CCA) exams)

CCA Medical Billing and Coding

Medical Billing and Coding is one of the fastest growing careers. Employment of medical coders is projected to grow 15 percent, which is more than double the average for all occupations. Healthcare workers are in high demand due to the increased medical needs of an aging population and the increased number of Americans qualifying for health insurance. This means there are numerous job opportunities for this type of position across the country.

The CCA Medical Billing and Coding course will prepare you for an entry-level career within the healthcare industry. You will learn current medical coding standards, to help you accurately track patient accounts and find gainful employment within this growing workforce sector.

This course is designed to help you successfully prepare for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam, offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). This course includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam.

CPC Medical Billing and Coding

Whether you're just starting out or transitioning into a different field, this course will help you enter the medical billing and coding field. Microsoft Office Specialist 2019 Certification Training

Microsoft Office is the most widely used business productivity suite. Knowing how to use its products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is valuable in any professional setting. Earning your Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification demonstrates your knowledge of the Office and proves that you're ready to make an immediate impact at your organization.

This course prepares you for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) 2019 certification exams for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. You will build your expertise in these programs through hands-on exercises, in-depth course material, and supplemental video demonstrations. As you prepare for each exam, you will test your skills at regular intervals with quizzes and exams.

By course completion, you will be fully prepared to take the MOS Certification Exams MO-100 (Word), MO-200 (Excel), MO-300 (PowerPoint), MO-400 (Outlook), and MO-500 (Access) exams. The vouchers are prepaid access to sit for the certifying exams upon eligibility. Proctor fees may apply, which are not included.

Paralegal Certificate Course

This intensive, nationally-acclaimed program is designed for beginning and advanced legal workers. You will be trained to assist trial attorneys, interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. The instruction is practice-oriented and relates to those areas of the law in which legal assistants are in most demand. The online paralegal course is split into two parts: Introduction to Paralegal Studies and Advanced Paralegal Concepts. All registered students will be enrolled in both sections, which will be completed consecutively.

Introduction to Paralegal Studies provides the foundation for paralegal study. During the seven-week course, you will gain an understanding of the American legal system and learn how you can be of assistance in the exciting field of law. Coursework is equivalent to 45 class hours of study.

Advanced Paralegal Concepts takes over where the introduction leaves off. In this seven-week course, you will learn the advanced skills of legal research and writing, formal and informal advocacy, and appellate procedure. Coursework in the advanced course is equivalent to an additional 45 class hours of study.

This is an accelerated course. While there are no prerequisites, you will be expected to complete a significant amount of homework and you can anticipate spending an average of 12 hours per week reading and completing writing assignments. Successful graduates of this program will be awarded a certificate of completion. To receive the certificate, you must pass six quizzes and successfully complete five legal document writing assignments. 8.4 CEUs

Please note: paid access to the Westlaw online legal library is offered through the Center for Legal Studies and is strongly recommended to complete the second part of the course. Students have access to Westlaw at Hudson Valley Community College while on campus. Textbooks that accompany the instruction of this course are available for purchase in the college’s bookstore or through the Center for Legal Studies at (800) 522-7737. Pet Education Certificate

The Pet Education Certificate course offers a variety of resources to help begin or enhance your career working with animals, including but not limited to pet sitting, kennel work, daycare, training, working for a veterinarian and other animal-related fields. Topics include pet health and illness, communication, basic hygiene for pets, and even writing a resume and preparing for an interview. In order to successfully complete this program and be eligible for a certificate, you must successfully complete the online course, complete a pet First Aid/CPR class and complete at least 100 hours of internships at an approved animal care facility within six months of the end of the course. 11.8 CEUs Times available for internships are at the discretion of the animal care facility.
